During the reporting period, the station provided notice of all full-time vacancies to the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, the National Association of Hispanic Journalist, the Asian American Journalist Association, CareerWomen.com (until the contract was not renewed), DiversitySearch.com (until the contract was not renewed) and the Richmond Free Press, all of which include substantial participation by women and minorities.

June 6, 2011 – July 29, 2011 - Virginia Association of Broadcasters Summer Internship Program –1 college student participated in an 8 week structured internship program in our Sales Department.  This program offers undergraduate training in broadcasting related programs to college juniors and seniors.   

 

January 16, 2012 - February 17, 2012 – WUPV placed a story on our website, www.cwrichmond.tv , describing the Virginia Association of Broadcasters' 2012 Summer Internship program.  There was also a link to the VAB's website, www.vabonline.com, where more information could be found about this program and other resources through the VAB.

October 5, 2011 – Virginia Commonwealth University Career Fair.  Attended career fair and worked at the Virginia Association of Broadcasters booth promoted this organization as well as WWBT.  Spoke to students about careers in broadcasting as well as the VAB and their internship program, job bank where students can list their resumes as well as see open jobs posted by members of the VAB.  Station Personnel involved - Human Resources Director.

May 16, 2012 – ITT Technical Institute 2012 Spring Career Fair.  Attended career fair and spoke to students about careers in broadcasting.  Also gave out information about the Virginia Association of Broadcasters information about careers in broadcasting and the services offered thru the VAB's on-line job bank and internship program.  Station Personnel involved – Human Resources Director.

Other worthwhile outreach activities that further the goal of disseminating information as to broadcast employment opportunities to job candidates.

 

 

 

Describe Scope of Broadcasters' Participation (including names of any other sponsoring or participating organizations):

 

WUPV held a 2011 "America's Next Top Model" casting call where hundreds of hopeful models tried out for a spot on this national television show.  In addition to being the sponsor, WUPV had a booth at this event to speak with interested parties about careers in broadcasting and our internship program.  Station Personnel involved - Human Resources Director, Local Sales Manager and General Manager.
