ATLANTA, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Fuse® Full Spectrum Endoscopy System is one of 16 medical innovations that will be showcased in front of thousands of healthcare providers at the Premier, Inc. 2014 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in San Antonio.

EndoChoice's Fuse Endoscopy System was selected by clinicians and other members of Premier, a leading healthcare improvement company, uniting an alliance of approximately 3,000 U.S. hospitals and 110,000 other providers.

It will debut during the conference's sixth annual Innovation Celebration, which takes place on June 10. The event recognizes advances in healthcare while highlighting industry suppliers committed to innovation and improving patient outcomes.

The Fuse system uses three small cameras at the tip of a flexible GI endoscope while traditional, forward-viewing endoscopes have just one.  With a panoramic 330° view, physicians see 94% more surface area and anatomy of the colon, including behind and into folds.  A recent clinical study published in The Lancet Oncology found up to 41% of potentially pre-cancerous polyps hide undetected with the limited 170° view of traditional, forward-viewing endoscopes. This same study showed Fuse found 69% more pre-cancerous polyps than traditional endoscopes.

Premier selected the system based on the uniqueness of the product, ability to have an impact on an unmet medical need and potential to improve patient care.

"After years of research and development, we are pleased to make this revolutionary technology available to Premier facilities," said Mark Gilreath, Founder and CEO at EndoChoice. "It's encouraging to see leading physicians across the United States embrace the technology.  Physicians will miss fewer polyps and lives will be saved.  It's clear that patients will ultimately choose GI physicians and centers that offer Full Spectrum Endoscopy."

"Those who attend and participate in the Innovation Celebration share Premier's commitment to providing valuable products to our members that are safe, high-quality and cost-effective," said Durral R. Gilbert, president of supply chain services, Premier. "We believe these innovations can benefit providers as they work to transform healthcare."
